Meridian Welcomes Summer Associate Laina Henry

Help us welcome our summer associate, Laina Henry. Laina is a rising third-year at The University of Alabama School of Law where she serves as the Senior Editor for the Alabama Law Review, on the Executive Committee for the Dorbin Women’s Association, was a Regional Semifinalist for the National Trial Competition, and is an active member of the Business Law Society and the Trial Advocacy Board. Prior to law school, Samantha graduated from Auburn University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Psychology.

When asked why she decided to attend law school, Laina said the decision was set in motion when she was in the 5thgrade – as her class superlative was “Most Likely to Become a Lawyer.” Maybe it was because she was argumentative, but she likes to think it was because of her belief that the law is supposed to serve the interests of the people and her goal is to position it as a tool to create positive change rather than an obstacle.

When Laina isn’t in class or working, you can find her attending concerts, attending or reliving Auburn football games, or spending time with her family. Family is extremely important to Laina and she lives by the saying, “The most important thing in life is who you spend time with.” We couldn’t agree more and are glad we get to spend the summer with her.

“We have really enjoyed having Laina this summer”, says Tom Shumate, Meridian’s founder and managing member.  “She works hard, appreciates our unique firm culture, is open to learning new things, and provides timely and well-written work-product. We appreciate all she’s doing to support Meridian and our clients.”
