Colton L. adams

Associate

Colton represents businesses and individuals in transactional and litigation matters, including employment litigation, contract disputes, and corporate governance matters. Before joining Meridian, Colton had the honor of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Joseph M. Hood in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

Colton received his JD and MBA from the University of Kentucky with honors in litigation and writing, where he also served as a Notes Editor on the Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Law. As a law student, Colton was actively involved in the Trial Advocacy Board and the National Sports Law Negotiation Team, and he interned with Franklin County Circuit Court in Frankfort, Kentucky.  Before law school, Colton gained legal and policymaking experience as a paralegal at a creditor’s rights firm and an intern with the Tennessee General Assembly and Tennessee Secretary of State.

When Colton isn’t helping clients, he loves to hit the gym or travel. He also enjoys cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats, reading the news, and researching obscure corners of the law, such as the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court once ruled that a tomato is a vegetable, not a fruit—something Colton still stands by.

“We are excited to have Colton on our team,” says Meridian’s founder and managing member, Tom Shumate. “Colton has incredible energy and optimism that shines through his work in and out of the courtroom. We look forward to watching his legal and business training and experience continue to grow our business, corporate, and litigation practices.”
